Biofouling and in-water cleaning in Australian ports. Complying with AMSA requirements!

September 14, 2022

AMSA has issued an updated marine notice on the requirements for managing biofouling and in-water cleaning, providing guidelines to vessel owners, operators, ports, and marinas on the:

• New mandatory biofouling management requirements for international vessels that began on 15 June 2022
• the Anti-fouling and in-water cleaning guidelines for Australia and New Zealand
• the development of Australian in-water cleaning standards, and
• the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) 2011 Guidelines for controlling and managing ships’ biofouling to minimize the transfer of invasive aquatic species (the Biofouling Guidelines).

Read the marine notice on 11/2022.

We can assist shipping companies to develop a biofouling management plan meeting AMSA requirements.
